2020 Friending Meme

This helped me a lot in early 2017 when Trump had just been elected, and I am hoping we can get the same feeling going again, after the UK election was such a shock.
Connections are important when it feels like the world is getting darker. Fandom is a huge and strong network of people. We don't always get along, but we're stronger together.
Make new friends, reconnect with those who have drifted, enlarge your circle, and know you are not alone.
To play, cut and paste this text into a comment, fill out the details and tell us about yourself. Then go find new people to add.
If you don't have a Dreamwidth account, you can sign up for one here.
If you're new to Dreamwidth and you've left OpenID comments on DW before, you can link your IDs here: How can I claim my OpenID account with my Dreamwidth account?
Play nice.
And feel free to promote wherever you like with this handy box of linkage:
ETA on Sat morning AEST: This text box was functionally busted a few hours ago, so if you grabbed the code then, you might have an image with no link. It's fixed now, with all new alt text for screen readers. If your promo link is just an image, please replace the code with what's in the box now. Thanks for all the posts, btw! Giraffes popping up everywhere.

If you've seen me around, it's probably because: You're a Draco/Hermione fan. :)
I post about: Combination! Fannish on occasion, offline stuff more frequently, though I've never been a heavy poster.
I post/check my feed: Post about once a week on average, I'd say, sometimes up to a month in between. Read daily, even if I don't respond.
I want to find people that post about: Harry Potter, mostly, though I am not monofannish that way when it comes to encircling people!
I am most interested in interacting with people on: Dreamwidth!
My blog is: Public. I don't lock anything unless it's a note to self, so I don't grant access in general. Not offended or upset the other direction, either!
Anything else you need to know about me: If it's a bad boy/good girl ship, I am ON IT. XD

Thanks for the link to the Advent calendar! I'll definitely check it out!
OMG, so Hermione is my absolute *favorite*, but I can't stand her and Ron together. He can be smart, but is so lazy about schooling in canon that I just can't see it. But if Hermione can fall for Ron who is kind of snide to her when they are kids and as canon says has the emotional range of a teaspoon, then if Draco matures, I can see that much more easily. Because Draco obviously has skills, particularly in charms, and can be dedicated and focused. He is a silly, bigoted child, but I can see him maturing into a damned decent person (especially if you count Cursed Child as canon, since he raised Scorpius to be such a good kid). Plus their dynamic can then be filled with snark and banter that creates a level of tension that is delicious.
I also feel there is more potential for respect of each other than with Ron and Hermione. Hermione will always mother Ron, it is part of their dynamic, but I don't want that for her. I want an equal. And Draco would definitely demand to be an equal.
Draco is one of the few "bad guys" that I like. As I mentioned, it is obvious he loves his family and that drives him more than his bigotry in book 6 and book 7 (to a lesser degree), and I find that precious. But also, in reality, I find him funnier than I find Ron. He's a stupid boy, but the charmed buttons during Goblet of Fire makes me laugh every time. Plus the Weasley is King song. He's just so immature but smart. I think Rowling missed a major opportunity for growth of characters to not redeem Draco but only Snape. It made it look like there really were 3 good houses in Hogwarts and 1 evil one.
Alright, that's all the blathering I can do right now. I have work in 10 minutes. *g*
