2020 Friending Meme

This helped me a lot in early 2017 when Trump had just been elected, and I am hoping we can get the same feeling going again, after the UK election was such a shock.

Connections are important when it feels like the world is getting darker. Fandom is a huge and strong network of people. We don't always get along, but we're stronger together.

Make new friends, reconnect with those who have drifted, enlarge your circle, and know you are not alone.

To play, cut and paste this text into a comment, fill out the details and tell us about yourself. Then go find new people to add.

If you don't have a Dreamwidth account, you can sign up for one here.
If you're new to Dreamwidth and you've left OpenID comments on DW before, you can link your IDs here: How can I claim my OpenID account with my Dreamwidth account?

Play nice.

And feel free to promote wherever you like with this handy box of linkage:

ETA on Sat morning AEST: This text box was functionally busted a few hours ago, so if you grabbed the code then, you might have an image with no link. It's fixed now, with all new alt text for screen readers. If your promo link is just an image, please replace the code with what's in the box now. Thanks for all the posts, btw! Giraffes popping up everywhere.

DW username: Rathany
Other platforms (tumblr, twitter, etc): I am barely on other platforms right now, except Discord
Active/primary interests or fandoms: Photography, writing, urban fantasy, archives, steam powered giraffe. Most of my fandoms are niche like Buckaroo Banzai or Jeeves and Wooster. I've been into MCU in the past, but I am not following D+ shows and IDK if I am going to be into the upcoming films.
If you've seen me around, it's probably because: I did con photography back before everyone had a camera in their pocket and I released most of it as creative commons, I used to photograph Kane concerts, I was in Rhino Hunt (and won) .... not sure what else.
I post about: Fandom, real life, photography, hiking
I post/check my feed: I check my feed a few times a day. I post erratically.
I want to find people that post about: General fandom stuff, old school fandoms,
I am most interested in interacting with people on: Dreamwidth
My blog is: Mostly public
Anything else you need to know about me:

Pardon the swearing, but this sums up a lot about me. Including the fact that it's graffiti made using embroidery. Also, if you'd like to see some of this photography I keep mentioning, here is my website.

They are a band that write and perform as robots. They've been doing this for 11 years now and are currently releasing singles from their 6th studio album. Some of their songs are serious and some are silly. But they've been leaning into this one idea and these personas for a long time now.

In fandom they might be best known as the band Dashcon claimed to have booked, but didn't actually book.

There's a local artist who does them. I've found a few in the wild. That one is amazing.

...did you say Buckaroo Banzai?

Would you be interested in saying Buckaroo Banzai together in the future?

Also, thank you for the post about the Folgers ad XD.

AWESOME

So, my parents showed it to me when I was wayyyyyyy young. Like four, I think? So, while most people my age identify Jeff Goldblum as Malcom from Jurassic Park, I'm that one person who always goes, "The doctor from Buckaroo Banzai, right?"

I got into it in college. I saw it once and then went on a quest to get a high quality bootleg instead of the 3rd or so generation bootleg with a TV logo in the corner that I saw.
