2020 Friending Meme

This helped me a lot in early 2017 when Trump had just been elected, and I am hoping we can get the same feeling going again, after the UK election was such a shock.
Connections are important when it feels like the world is getting darker. Fandom is a huge and strong network of people. We don't always get along, but we're stronger together.
Make new friends, reconnect with those who have drifted, enlarge your circle, and know you are not alone.
To play, cut and paste this text into a comment, fill out the details and tell us about yourself. Then go find new people to add.
If you don't have a Dreamwidth account, you can sign up for one here.
If you're new to Dreamwidth and you've left OpenID comments on DW before, you can link your IDs here: How can I claim my OpenID account with my Dreamwidth account?
Play nice.
And feel free to promote wherever you like with this handy box of linkage:
ETA on Sat morning AEST: This text box was functionally busted a few hours ago, so if you grabbed the code then, you might have an image with no link. It's fixed now, with all new alt text for screen readers. If your promo link is just an image, please replace the code with what's in the box now. Thanks for all the posts, btw! Giraffes popping up everywhere.

Preferred pronouns: she/her
Other platforms (tumblr, twitter, etc):
Active/primary interests or fandoms: reading (I'm on Goodreads and belong to a bookclub), classical music, movies, fashion, style, perfume. I like to travel but that's on hold. Sewing is on hold. Writing is on hold.
If you've seen me around, it's probably because: I was the mod/co-mod for
I post about: Right now to amuse myself, I'm posting Christmas songs, one a day, from Christmas day through Epiphany, but mostly I post about my personal life.
I post/check my feed: I check it frequently but right now I'm so busy, I'm mostly skimming. I'm managing to post something substantial (as opposed to YouTube vids) once a month at present. I'm hoping to get back to once a week by March, three times a week by April. It's important to have goals.
I want to find people that post about: books, movies, music etc. Fanworks. Crafting. Anything you're enthusiastic about, I would enjoy reading. I love looking at travel pictures and reading travelogues. I love cats. Dogs. Kids. Family. Friends. The ups and downs of your everyday life.
I am most interested in interacting with people on: DW/LJ, assuming the cross-posting gets fixed. I don't have the spoons to deal with Tumblr just now. Ditto for Twitter. Learning new platforms is not for me, not right now.
My blog is: For the past few years, it has been locked up tight. Having said that, over the years, I've granted access to nearly everyone who wanted it, without regrets of any kind.
Anything else you need to know about me: I'm happily married, with one adult son. I'm a retired, former RN. I hesitate to mention this, since it is clearly not fandom-related, but my husband was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in October. This is why I haven't been posting (or commenting, or watching anything on television other than reruns of his favorite shows...). I'll try to put posts behind a cut, but if "cancer" is a trigger for you, I'm not a good fit for the foreseeable future.

Re: HP. Because my son was reading the books (he was in fifth or sixth grade when the series began), I've read six of the seven books (I was too angry after the sixth to read the seventh). I did finally go see the last movie. I wouldn't consider myself "in the fandom" but I do read some fic occasionally.

I, too, started reading HP thanks to a son – my eldest, who was about eight, as it was around 2000. And I found the fandom in summer 2003, when OotP gave me an urge to discuss it. Because I started my fanfic – the big story which I still continue but now in separately-working short stories – back then, I didn’t care so much about HBP and DH, and I don’t care for them for various other reasons, too. My fanfic would be safe – perhaps even pleasant – for someone like you to read. I’ll be thrilled if such an occasion arises… :)
In any case, I’ve been happy to add and give access!
