Starting to need a Tesla icon quite a lot, actually

Last night I was drifting off to sleep, all snuggly with my hot water bottle on my lower back, when suddenly BOILING WATER ALL OVER MY BUM! The bloody hot water bottle split. And every time this happens (because it's not the first time) I swear I won't put water straight from the kettle into the hot water bottle, but it's so nice and snuggly that I can't resist. Now I have a burn on my bum and I should probably learn something from that but I won't.

I'd also like to point out that it's barely March. It should still be roasting hot. Not that I'm complaining.

And I know I'm not at my best today, because where I meant to write "glycerin suppositories" on the order list, I actually wrote "Slytherin suppositories." Harry Potter badfic? In my prescription? It's more likely than you think.

delight's mother is in need of life-saving surgery, which her health insurance has denied coverage for. delight has a fund-raising post here. (This one is kind of personal for the two of us - lilacsigil is in the middle of post-cancer treatment, and the idea of having to do everything we've done in the past eight months and not know if we could pay for it is, frankly, terrifying.)

Bakepocalypse: The Lemon Edition
Lemon Bars - these are zingy! And they have, like, lemony custard in them. Really easy to make.

Blueberry Lemon Crumb Cake - really complicated to make, which is good, because my brain needed occupying. I don't know if I made a mistake in the conversion from ounces to grams, but the crumb layer turned out HUUUUGE, and the cream cheese layer was teeeny. It was altogether pretty tasty though, and it seems to be getting better as time goes on.

This weekend's bread experiment? Pretzels! I want to boil me some dough.

GF Update:
lilacsigil is in day three of total hypothyroidism. The first couple of days were awesome - where we thought she'd be curled up in bed sleeping, she was up and about and chatty. A bit dizzier than usual, more easily tired than before, but she came to work for a few hours and was generally busy. Today was not so good. Hopefully, it's just over-exertion, and with the weekend coming, things will settle down again. Twenty four days to go. She has a folder on her computer labelled "Lead Room" where she's putting all the things she might want to read.

There's a history battle going on at sfa_history, the history comm for Sanctuary fans, and you can leave prompts. You know, if you've ever wondered if Tesla ate the Lindberg baby. Or something like that.

X-Men: First Class Shippiness:
I haven't had time to squee over the eye-fucking fiesta that is the X-Men: First Class trailer, though it does thrill the Charles/Erik shipper in me, and I am looking forward to a wash of new shippers when the movie comes out. I am charmed by the posters.

My mum used to tell me that hot water bottles only split if you have put the boiling water from the kettle straight in without any cold water. This is not true. The last time one of mine split I had been very good about not putting the boiling water straight in. So instead of getting a bit scalded I woke up in the morning with one half of me soaking wet and a mattress that took two days to dry out :(

I am not a very huggy person but you and lilacsigil both sound like you could use some right now - so have a virtual *hug*.

Aaaah, do not want! I'd rather have burns! Fortunately we're back to proper summer weather today, so there's no need to worry.

Thankfully my mother has gotten her surgery, though we had to pay $10k upfront which has not been reimbursed even though it was supposed to be, and I think I'm going to just destroy this insurance company soon.

Before I saw the trailer I was going "okay, X3 made you really angry, and the Wolverine prequel was... okay for about a minute total, so don't get your hopes up, it just isn't the same without Bryan Singer -- o-oh, he's involved with this one? uhhhh" and then I watched it and I was just "*_____* NEW X-MEN WANT WANT WANT WANT". #fickle

I pretty much followed the same thought process with the movie - I was always going to see it, because I'm gruesome that way, but now I'm actually excited. I can't wait till it comes out.

And OMG yes! The trailer for the new movie is so awesome that the first time I saw it I re-watched it several times. I'm kinda geeked for it, and, like you, for the masses of movieverse fans that it might bring in. :)

*hugs back* We're hanging in there. 21 days to go today. That's three weeks flat.

Yeah, I am actually getting pretty excited, and I'm always happy when new fans come in and discover all the comics canon that lead to the movies. I remember when X2 came out, someone online asked "So,what was that bird thing in the dam at the end of the movie?" Best day ever, linking them to the Dark Phoenix Saga and stories that I've known and loved for decades.
