st_aurafina: white woman with red hair, she looks gleeful (POI: Grace excited)
Hi hi hi, Person of Interest Person!

I'm so excited about this exchange! PoI is my great love, and it is a delight when we all get together to make stuff that celebrates it.

First up: my standard letter disclaimer.

My letter is long, and in it I get very excited and throw a bazillion ideas against the wall. I am not vitally attached to any particular prompt. I just want there to be some potential inspiration available to you if you need it. Please feel free to create as loosely and freely as you want. I will enjoy what you create. Promise.

Things I love in POI fic (mostly cribbed from last year):
- happy endings. I'm mentioning it in specific, because the end of S5 gutted me.
- touch-starved John. John needs (and loves) hugs and hand stroking and face touching, though he would never admit it.
- Harold's many aliases, and stories where Harold and the team go undercover in the mundane world. We've met Harold the excellent concierge and Harold the drycleaner. How about Harold the piano tuner? Shaw the nanny? (John the nanny?! He'd be so good!)
- everyone lives! As I said, S5 was a rough ride for my poor heart.
- Divergent AUs. For want of a nail AUs. Paths taken or not taken, coincidences turning stories around, different approaches to the way characters meet, that sort of thing. What if Nathan survived the bomb, what if John and Kara decided not to kill each other but go on the run, what if Cole survived that shooting and he and Shaw both worked for Finch? That type of scenario is eternally catnip for me.
- All the recurrent characters. Character cameos, numbers coming back into play for various reasons.
- Pertinent flashbacks informing current storylines.
- Harold making tentative emotional connection with the Machine after all this time.
- Fusco and his journey towards being a shining paladin of justice. All the Fusco hero stories!!
- Supernatural stories or stories with mythological characters. Finch is a ghost! Shaw is a woodland elf! Fusco is a druid and talks to the fucking trees! Root is a genie in a bottle, baby! John is a beautiful unicorn pegasus.

Things I don't love in POI fic so much:
- Root and John's canon death. I have a pretty specific squick for grief and bereavement, especially loss of a partner. Please let everyone live in the end.
- I'm not the biggest fan of unresolved angst, so the bleak situation in S5 was kind of a downer for me. I need light at the end of the tunnel.
- Mundane AUs. For example, if your heart yearns to write a tattoo and flower shop au, please let the Machine be sending coded messages via people's ink, and Samaritan killing dissidents with posies.

Ratings: anything from General up to Explicit.

Porn likes: rough handling, desperation to get down to boning, tearing off clothes in the elevator, grinding, wall fucking, eye contact, eye fucking, hair pulling, biting, neck kissing, trembling with want, tenderness post all the fucking

Kink likes: D/s overtones, people comfortable with their kink identities, bondage, ropes, sensation play, orgasm control, impact play

DNW: Non-con (any level of consent up to dub con is fine, though), cross-gen, incest, teacher/student, death (especially partner death), terminal illness (especially cancer), angst without resolution, sad endings, embarrassment for embarrassment's sake, humiliation, animal harm or suffering

Miscellanea

I've been specific about the kind of kink I like, but that doesn't mean you have to write kink. Similarly, I've requested mostly pairings, but I'm very flexible on what constitutes a pairing. If you're happier writing any of those requests on a friendship level, that suits me fine. I love the characters and reading about them interacting with each other, so the degree of intimacy is not the most important part for me. Tl;dr, write gen if you prefer, I can promise I'll love it.

I've written more about some prompts than others, but this is no indication of preference. I would be happy with fic for any of these prompts.

If anything here is causing confusion or you have questions about my likes and dislikes, I'm happy for you to contact the mods, or drop [personal profile] talkingtothesky - [tumblr.com profile] talking2thesky a message. She will help you out.

I haven't posted fic here for about 6 months. I'm supposed to be using Dreamwidth as my fic archive back up for if AO3 ever goes down. That's not good archiving behaviour.

Also, hi! I am fine and [personal profile] lilacsigil is fine! We're almost to the end of all the current medical shenanigans. It's very tiring.

Our House (Rated General) by [archiveofourown.org profile] cosmic_llin
Fandom: Ghosts (TV 2019)
Song: Our House by Madness
For a show I haven't watched but I sure am going to check out, which seems to be about a team of ghosts working cooperatively to oust new homeowners who want to turn the house into a hotel. Very funny, very snappy, lots of fun.

what's to come (Rated Teen, Jesus Christ/Judas Iscariot) by [archiveofourown.org profile] ryfkah
Fandom: Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert (2018)
Song: Superstar, by Tegan and Sara
(More bts commentary over here at skygiant's dreamwidth)
Is it weird that often the perfect song is just something really unexpected? I wouldn't have picked this one in a million years and it is so good. So bitter and obsessed and inevitable. I've watched it a lot.

Apple Blossom (Rated General, Henry "Indiana" Jones/Marion Ravenwood) by [archiveofourown.org profile] lily_the_kid

Song: Apple Blossom by The White Stripes
An excellent, punchy Marion vid, with great comedic timing.

This gave me goosebumps - such a good song, such a good interpretation of Moana's journey.

Fandom: Star Trek: Discovery
Song: Children's Work by Dessa
I cannot think of a better song to show their relationship than this one, and it's done so well.

Be Brave (Rated Teen, Amanda Grayson/Sarek, Michael Burnham & Spock) by [archiveofourown.org profile] pixie
Fandom: Star Trek: Discovery
Song: Meet Me on the Battlefield
This mixes canon from TOS, TNG, the third movie, and the reboot movie to give an amazing picture of this family unit. Wow.

When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (Rated Teen, Michael Burnham & Mirror Philippa Georgiou) by [archiveofourown.org profile] starlady
Fandom: Star Trek: Discover
Song: Bury a Friend by Billie Eilish
Ngggghh ahahah. So funny, so hot, and so clever with the little asides in the song. Mirror Philippa is a damn treasure, and this vid knows it.

Grounds for Divorce (Rated General) by [archiveofourown.org profile] purplefringe
Fandom: Hamlet (2009)
Song: Grounds For Divorce by Elbow
This is for the David Tennant version, and it's so good. So sharp and stuttery. Ooof. I watched this one over and over. If you see one vid from the exchange, make it this one.

Past Imperfect, Future Unknown
I got two amazing gifts for this fest!

second turning, (Captive Prince, Rated Teen, Damen/Laurent)
Damen travels back in time to before when he and Laurent meet in the books, he knows what's to come, and he's trying to head it off. It is fascinating to read a Damen who loves Laurent, and a Laurent who would happily murder Damen. I love it - it's complicated and it's got all the feels, and it's beautifully written. Short, punch and full of feels. It's so good.

Broken Clock (Imperial Radch, Rated , Sphene/Captain Minask, Sphene and Queter)
A wonderful, world-buildy example of "Character Invents Time Travel to Save Loved One". Such a good Sphene voice, such an excellent dynamic with its new captain of sorts, Queter. This is very timey-wimey and clever with the twists and turns of a time-travel plot. And it gushes loyalty kink. I loved it.

One rec that wasn't a gift for me (but it was, in a way, because I loved the crap out of it):
Will the cycle be unbroken (BSG 2003, Rated G, Hera Agathon)
Adult Hera wakes up on a Cylon ship, before the Twelve Colonies are attacked. The fic has hints of Hera's life on New Earth, what it was like growing up in a culture of subsistence farmers made up of humans and Cylons. It builds on Cylon society. It's timey-wimey as fuck, and it's clever about the reasons for the Cylon attack in the first place. It's 14k of excellent story telling from a tough but relatively normal character. I really enjoyed it.

Chocolate Box opens soon, yay!! There's so many Person of Interest fics! I'm proud of my fandom.

I've not been around much, and I've been skipping my weekly posts at [community profile] podcastjoy for which I'm sorry - medical stuff is exhausting. I always forget how exhausting. st_aurafina: Rainbow DNA (Default)
Dear Chocolatier,

Thank you for creating for me this round!

I've requested some pairings, and I've offered some prompts that could be explicit but there's no obligation to go there if that's not your thing. I love gen, I love friendship stories, I won't be disappointed if there's no sex or no relationship in the fanwork you make. It's cool. I love the characters and the world building of all the fandoms I've requested here.

General likes: competence, plot, world building, visible and accepted queerness, people comfortable with their sexualities, supernatural elements, crossovers (see my list of fandoms at the Archive), AUs other than the mundane kind, teamwork, found family, domesticity, little scenes away from the big drama (but big drama is also great!), AUs where everyone gets to live, role reversal AUs (such as where Bruce Wayne is Superman and vice versa), divergent AUs

Not favourite things but not dealbreakers: embarrassment, angst with no resolution, sad endings

DNW: Noncon, body fluids, partner death or grieving (except for Stumptown, I'm okay with grieving Dex and Naomi for some reason), teacher/student, cross gen or age difference, employer/employee, terminal illness

Person of Interest, Stumptown, EOS 10, Moonbase Theta Out )

Miscellanea:

I have talked about some fandoms more than others, but that does not indicate a preference of any sort. I would be happy with fic or art from any of these fandoms.

I've used additional tags as suggestions, you're welcome to use prompts for different characters than I discussed.

My partner is [personal profile] lilacsigil or [tumblr.com profile] laraleftlane and she will be happy to sneakily answer any questions about my likes and dislikes. She will keep this secret from me, (possibly forever, because that's how she rolls.)

Thank you for creating a time-travel fanwork for me!

Generalities
I love time travel, I love the twisty-turny timey-wimey nature of time travel stories, I love the way it changes a story, and I love the weird and unexpected patterns it throw out when you apply it to characters you know really well. I love time travel!

Ratings: I am fine with receiving gen and g-rated fic, I'm fine with explicit fic.

Kink likes: I like D/s overtones, negotiated relationships, stories about drop and aftercare and all the practicalities of a kink-based relationship. I really like characters knowing what they like and being able to ask for it. I don't have really specific kinks, so much as I enjoy it when kinks are woven into the storyline and fit the narrative. I'm not a fan of bodyfluid kinks, body horror/anatomically improbable kinks like stuffing or vore.

Ships: I love femslash, het and male slash. I have my OTPs but I'm always on board to read ships I haven't mentioned, or, indeed, ships I never thought of. There are a few exceptions listed for some fandoms (Imperial Radch, for example) where I have ships I don't want to see, but otherwise, you're not going to ruin Christmas by mashing two characters together. If I don't want it, I will have said so, and anything else is fair game. Avoid my DNWs, and things will be sweet. I am always happy with non-shippy fic – I love gen, I love world building, I love everything about the fandoms I've requested. But if you're a shipper, I've listed pairings I enjoy for each fandom.

DNW: Noncon, age gap, teacher/student, employer/employee, incest. Specific DNW for cancer storylines and partner bereavement.

Shipoween!

st_aurafina: (Writing - strange fruit)
Hey there, Shipoween author!

I ticked all the boxes in the sign-up form because I wasn't sure how to indicate that I don't mind if there's a theme or not. I don't mind! I like spooky things, I like seasonal things. And bonus southern hemisphere goodness: it's spring here! Let me give you a free pass to other, non-regulation seasonal tropes like hayfever and mild sunburn.

General likes: Plot, competence, sexy times, light kink or D/s dynamics. Characters having quiet moments. Visible queer presences, gender fluidity, people comfortable with their identities and living their best lives. Happy endings. Alternate universes of the non-mundane kind.

Horror likes: Spooky much more than gory, creepypasta, paranormal weirdness, people living normal lives with their weirdnesses, abilities like psychometry or talking to ghosts or lycanthropy, dimensional shifts, Lovecraftian monsters oozing into this dimension, Ouija boards and professional psychics, exorcisms, cryptozoology.

Seasonal likes: I'm taking this to mean tropey stuff like huddling for warmth or sharing umbrellas or dealing with wet dogs or raking up fallen leaves? I'm good with that. I'm good with all the tropey domestic goodness, to be honest, though being an Aussie, I have only peripheral experience with Halloween, and my knowledge of Thanksgiving extends only as far as popular media. Also, it's spring here, so if you want to write your faves dealing with hayfever or marvelling over new leaves on trees and blossom, please feel free.

Prefer not to see (but can take it if the story goes that way): Embarrassment, angst, sad endings, character death.

Concrete DNWs: Teacher/Student, cross-gen, pregnancy, animal suffering, body horror, partner death and grieving.

Fandoms: X-Files/Mindhunter, Hellblazer/The Exorcist, Person of Interest, The Exorcist,  )

My Camp NaNo cabin is set up - let me know if you would like an invite. You need to have signed in at campnanowrimo.org and given your project a name. (It doesn't have to be a good name - mine is called "Project Finish Everything".) Camp NaNo differs from the regular NaNo in November because you can pick your goal: it can be so many words, so many hours, lines, pages.

In other news, I just finished Killing Eve S2 and omg, I have a lot of feelings. Some are good feelings? And some are screaming. But now at least I can try to write for some of the many fic fests I am eyeing:

- Rule 63 Exchange - is open for sign-ups. I am not sure if I should sign up or write one of the excellent prompts that I've seen.

- Multifandom Drabble 2019 - sign-ups are closed, and we're waiting for assignments, but there's a lovely lot of prompts that you can write treats for. This is a very treat friendly fest. And it has an app, so you can sort prompts more easily:
Multifandom Drabble 2019 App

- Everywoman 2019 - is open for sign-ups.

- [community profile] fandomgiftbox has gift boxes open for filling now. (I think they're still posting boxes, actually?)

- Femslash After Dark 2019 - open for sign-ups.

I keep typing 'her' for the paragraph break instead of 'hr'. Must have femslash on my mind.

Also, it is very, very cold (for values of cold = Australia, do not laugh at me, Northerners.) I have been wearing a beanie inside the house.
