Argh, right at the start of 3 Weeks for Dreamwidth is not a good time to have an episode of being unable to post... Something that isn't helping is all the weird and wanky undercurrents about how cross-posting to LJ is, like, totally forbidden during this time. Crosspost if you want. Don't crosspost if you don't want. Don't beat up on people who do the opposite of what you think is right. It's creeping perilously close to bullying on both sides, and that makes me a sad panda.

Hi to the new people from various friending memes! *waves* Will probably do an intro post next. I am excited about getting to know you all, but I'm having one of those communication block thingies. It might take me a bit of time to build up to commenting.

What is cool? Let's review in point form:

- inkstone's Small Fandom Friending Meme! There's a Twin Peaks thread here that could do with some loving, IJS.

- philedom, which I have belatedly realised is not a stamp-collecting community but an X-Files community (misxed it up with philately!) is having fandom olympics, which as far as I can tell, is hilariously like a treasure hunt.

- twinpeaks, for we fans who take our coffee black like Agent Cooper, and who like to dance like the Man from Another Place. It's new! Come, join us! Right now, it's just me and my cousin, and doesn't she look almost exactly like Laura Palmer? (heartequals isn't really my cousin, but how often do you get to use that quote?)

- yifu's Writers Friending Meme, for writers of all kinds.

- last_writes is a multi-fandom vampire community, and they're kicking off a friending meme here, which I really need to add myself to.

- lunarwolfik's Doctor Who Comment Fic fest. This was heaps of fun last year, and with Who just starting up, I'm hoping it will be awesome this year, too. (And hopefully, now that I've cracked the drought on commenting, I might be able to leave some prompts, too.)

- such_heights has a Female Character Trope Fest. This is huge and awesome, people! Go fill a prompt, there's one for everyone.

- torachan has round two of the Transfic Mini-Fest, another one I remember from last year's 3W4DW, lots of propmts to be claimed there.

I am currently a Sims Medieval widow. There used to be this chick? In my life? But now it's mostly "Why doesn't my wizard have a bed?" and "Are you eating gruel AGAIN?!" *snorts*

*eyes post* That seems substantial... Now, back to the big bang. (I have 11K, people! And what's that, about 6 or 7K off in the distance? Could that be the end?)

Perth fandom is probably like Melbourne fandom, except that I left Melbourne before I really got into fandom, and so I don't know for sure. But some of the bickering and sniping on DW (and on LJ, too, but I hold DW to a higher standard) definitely reminds me of the old RPG conventions I used to go to in Melbourne. Little feeding of wank, clustering around each other.

I'm not even in Perth fandom, haha. I've never gone to Swancon (Perth SF con) because there are too many Swanconners there. :p

I have some friends who go and oh lord the drama they've linked me to. Sadly a lot of this year's was over twitter instead of LJ, but I'm sure it was exactly the same drama as it has been for the last however many years! GOD FORBID they do anything to not alienate new people if it means less time for circle wanks. (Also Perth writers lol lol lol lol. If I ever become known as a Perth Writer I will have to take drastic actions.)

I keep seeing mention of LJ vs DW wank and crossposting trauma but not seeing any actual wank. Either I've been wandering around with my head in the clouds again or I am very lucky and have the bestest flist/circle ever.

I'm kind of sad that the wank exists. 3W4DW ought to be a big street party where everyone runs around posting in communities and commenting and stuff. Crossposting ought to be a personal choice not some kind of peer/festival pressure thing :(

So! Much! And me so busy! I haven't seen crosspost wank, but the original point last year was to make content exclusive to Dreamwidth so that there would be more to do here. Now it's just... a big street fest. Which is pretty awesome.
