Must try to update more often...

I've been looking around for where the paper artists have their blogs, and have come to the conclusion that they haven't made it here yet. There seems to be a proliferation of LJ communities for ATCs and altered books springing up in late 2003, then dying off. There's a few scrapbookers on Blogspot, but that's not a very connected system, as far as I can tell. I really like livejournal, and the interconnected-ness of it, so I guess I'm going to have to mix my two loves and keep all my art info here.

I don't make so many cards these days, and I unexpectedly received a bunch of them, because I hosted a 55 person altered book round robin last year. Fortunately, in 2003, I went overboard on the festive card making, and had a large supply to send out as well.

Two cards which I received that I'm particularly fond of:
This one's from Karin H, I'm going in an art quilt swap with her this year. She's an innovative card maker and always has gorgeous backgrounds.

This is a beeswax collage. Beeswax is a medium that I'd like to be working more with, because it gives a warm lustre and has an inviting texture. It's probably messy and harmful, so I should probably steer clear, but I've seen some really good work using it, and probably won't be able to stay away.

I bought a bundle of vintage photos off ebay. I've been abstaining, because my collection is large enough, but these were on Aussie ebay, and so were hard to resist. I really like this football team photo, it has the look of "from the fields of Eton to the fields of France". Sad.

I'm making an AB for my mum, with a garden theme. It was meant to be very feminine, and elegant, and somehow it's gone all fruit and wombs.

In fandom news, I'm not really sure what's going on at the end of Wolverine 37. Rather than eating his own limbs, I think Logan should carry some beef jerky, or maybe those combat rations that you rehydrate with your own urine. What really bothers me is that if he ate his own arm to heal up a sword injury, then he's going to be about two pounds lighter, isn't he? You can't create matter from nothing. So is he going to be two pounds lighter until he can get to a burger place? Is this why he's so short?
HE ATE HIS OWN ARM! Can I lose weight this way? Nah, I'll probably just get shorter.
