Meme: What's in your tabs?
Jul. 20th, 2019 11:28 amThings are a bit garbage at the moment: there are triggery upcoming medical things, and my anxiety is off the rails as we wait for appointments and further investigations. I'm trying to find myself a sympathetic LGBTQI-aware GP (I know, right? My own unicorn hunt) and I think I've found a possibility but my appointment isn't for a couple of weeks. I really need to be back on meds, but I want a better option than seeing the doctors I work with. (They're perfectly cromulent doctors, though clueless on the queer front, plus it's hard to discuss stuff like self-harm with someone you work with.)

Do you live your life with too many tabs open? All this stuff you want to read, all this stuff at your fingertips, all the heartbreak when your browser crashes. List your open tabs, or a handful of them, just to share, or to motivate you.

I got the metafilter link from
mergatrude's meme post, though I've had it open before. It's a good collection of recs.
2048 is my writing game. It's perfect for writing - not too diverting. It lets me zone out enough that my plot brain can spin a few wheels and churn out some ideas but then I get frustrated/bored quickly enough that I'm back to writing again in no time.
I'm still reading through multifandom drabble - there are so many good things there!!
And crochet. It helps keep me sane. I've just finished the cowl that's in my tabs - it needs blocking, but it came out nice! Very stretchy and light, but will protect my neck from dread breezes.

[Crocheted cowl in blue/white/grey yarn]
Meanwhile, I'm concentrating on keeping up with Camp NaNo and my weekly
podcastjoy post. And not chickening out on posting chapters of my very long fic.

Date: 2019-07-20 02:01 am (UTC)I can't stand having a bunch of tabs open. I only keep my main tabs open and anything else gets dealt with and closed right away. Pinned tabs are personal email, work email, todo list, and meme. I will sometimes have a tab open with a youtube video, and then I have my main tab that I use to go to whatever I'm currently doing, and that's it. When I hear about people having dozens or hundreds of tabs it just makes me physically recoil. XD I don't know how people can do it!

2048 is my "on the phone" game. Especially on hold, but sometimes talking too. Not absorbing enough to distract me from the conversation, enough fidget to keep me from going out of my mind.

Date: 2019-08-01 03:58 am (UTC)I've gone with the GP that I know trans patients feel okay with, so she's at least some flavour of queer-friendly, though technically she's a specialist in adolescent health, so I don't know if she's queer adult friendly? But she once rang me up to ask if I knew a sympathetic nurse who would be okay to do T injections for a very anxious teenager so at least there's some compassion and understanding there? IDK.

Date: 2019-07-20 07:56 am (UTC)I'm not a tab person, so it's email and Twitter and maybe tabs relevant to what I'm writing. So research tabs or references if it's a blog post.

Date: 2019-07-21 02:32 pm (UTC)Oh, I thought you meant "your usual doctors", but you mean colleagues. OMG nope, definitely look for someone else who doesn't know you. I hope you find a good one, and that you can get back on useful meds.
Also: that meme just stole two hours of my day and made me discover a new Firefox Addon. I'm calling it a win! <3
