I'm half-vaccinated, with Astra Zeneca, which has just this morning been restricted to over-fifties thanks to omg clotsplosion. At least I'll be over fifty when I get the second dose?

The first dose gave me the vagues and the shivers, and then on day 7, I got this all-over itch that I thought was psychosomatic until google saved me. Apparently it's more common with the Moderna, but it's a possibility with AZ.

I'm in the middle of organising consent forms and so on for staff members. The clinic suggested that they don't all come up on the same day for their vaccines which is smart. The workplace that vaccinates together will probably have to take sick days together, and that's not functional.

It's weird, the concept of vaccination. I know how it works, I know the science and I'm not an antivaxxer, but it's a strange feeling. I'm carrying a piece of this disease that brought the world to a halt for a year. That's philosophically quite intense, you know?

The cats are starting to integrate! I did not expect this to happen. I really thought the house would remain split in half forever. But it's happening, slowly. Amity started to show this amazing, calm gentle body language around Chewie, and he responded with less yowling and more staring. Now, when they're in a room together, he sits quietly, with an astonished expression on his face, like "How did this happen?"

It went down marvellously! Obviously no ending will work for everyone, but it worked for me (and seems like the majority of the fandom are pretty happy with it). I thought it was bold and interesting and good.

I'm really happy to hear you got your first dose of the vaccine. My husband's had his first dose of AstraZeneca too, and had a fairly strong reaction to it, but no itchiness.

I'm really glad not to have caught COVID, given how bad I felt after the vaccine, if that's a greatly attenuated affect. It was intense!

I'm glad you're (half) vaccinated. I would like to be, but unless they sort out the informed consent procedure in the next four weeks... (I first learned of this from laurenthemself, who found out when they showed up to their vaccination appointment today! For fuck's sake, could the clinic at least not have told them it was cancelled?) I'm frustrated because the people being vaccinated right now (1a and 1b) are all either more likely to catch and spread Covid, or at greater risk if we get it, and I don't think they've weighed that adequately against the "under-50s are less at risk generally so the clot risk matters more relatively" consideration.

It is, yeah. I guess we're all already carrying pieces of loads of other things that didn't kill our ancestors too (or at least didn't kill them until after they reproduced.)

To be fair to clinics, they didn't have much chance to do anything - I saw the clinic manager here and I just wanted to give her a hug. I know how it feels to be scrabbling for information on the professional level. 2020 was pretty much like that all the way for retail healthcare. It's just really, really hard to keep up with it all and still keep people safe. Really wearing.

I'm still waiting on mine because the first time in many years I am too young for a thing instead of too old. However battlehamster got his first dose a couple of weeks ago which was a huge relief. It knocked him flat for a few days but we were sort of expecting that because of the fibro.

Lunch time cat updates are the best, although most of the ones I get these days are a report about which spot in the house is currently the warmest as indicated by wherever Kheldar is sleeping at the time.
