So, no big revelations on re-reading book two. It is filled with people who over-compensate due to their failings. Filch the squib comes down hard on the students. Lockhart hammers Harry with his fame because Harry is teh OMG Famous. (And I really wanted to say "Lockhart hammers Harry" because ew!) And poor Tom Riddle. I really felt sorry for him this time around. I wonder if part of the reason that Harry didn't end up in an orphanage was because Dumbledore didn't want to recreate the conditions of Tom's childhood, ala "The Boys From Brazil"?
