Is anyone on my flist doing Blogathon 2007? I know [livejournal.com profile] trollprincess is, and I've sponsored her. Is there anyone else?

From [livejournal.com profile] fannish5: Who are your five favourite fictional parents?

1. "Battlin' Jack" Murdock, Daredevil's father, because how many single dads do we read about? He may not have been the best parent, but he was one of the best-intentioned that I've read about. He instilled the kind of work ethic into his son that helped get Matt through college and into a good career in tights.

2. The Weasleys - the heads of one of the strongest, most cohesive family units I've ever read about. They raised their kids to be independent adults capable of making decisions about their lives. Even if they were bad decisions - I'm looking at you, Percy.

3. John and Elaine Grey - they had a child who needed help, and when traditional methods had failed, they were open-minded enough to accept assistance from Professor Xavier, in a time when not much was known about mutants or super-powers.

4. Jackie Tyler - not just because she raised a strong and highly opinionated daughter, but because of the way she handed down those memories of Pete, and let Rose have a dad that she could idolise and love.

5. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage - even though Jessica was pregnant for like, two years or something, I love these two as parents because they had all kinds of fights and drama, but worked it out because they were having a baby. They really thought about the kind of parents they wanted to be.
