Writing meme, last seen at [livejournal.com profile] penknife.

I'm surprised at how much I wrote this year - though I could have done more. I put last year's [livejournal.com profile] yuletide in here, and next year I'll do the same for this year.

X-Men
"Dead Letter Drop", (Charles/Erik, PG)
"Silver Lining in the Sky" (X-Men AU, PG)
"So Much Water, So Close to Home" (Summers brothers, PG)
"The Pilgrim's Progress" (Magneto/Rogue, G)
"Transmutation", (Bobby, PG)
"Takes One to Know One", (Emma Frost/Valerie Cooper, R)
"Travelin' Show", (Kurt Wagner, PG)
"Once Upon a Time in Madripoor", (Scott, Logan, PG)
"Inheritance", (Elektra/Mystique, PG)

Harry Potter
"Excursion", (Longbottoms, G)
"Punching Out", (Sirius Black, G)
"Alla Prima", (Dumbledore/Phineas Nigellus, PG)
"Scatter My Winter Dreams", (Sirius/Kingsley, Sirius/Remus, R)
"A Natural History", (Neville, Luna, Remus, G)
"The Crooked Path", (Remus/Sirius, PG)

Other things
"Silk Cut Souvenir", (Hellblazer, PG)
"The Seventh Wave", (Aeon Flux movie, PG)
"One Way Trip", (Hellblazer, G)
"Mine is the Morning", (Daredevil, G)
"Bolt from the Blue", (House/Doctor Who, G)
And [livejournal.com profile] birds_almanac, my first ever NaNo project.

Favorite(s) of the batch:
I really liked "Silver Lining in the Sky" - it was for [livejournal.com profile] brains_in_a_jar, and it let me write most indulgently, and use all the best Boys' Own tropes. I loved "Alla Prima", my [livejournal.com profile] remix_redux fic too - maybe more than I should have.

Best of the batch:
Judging by comments, it would be "Silver Lining in the Sky", followed by "Dead Letter Drop".

Most underappreciated by the universe:
Poor old "Alla Prima". I think I was too taken with my Albus/Nicolas/Perenelle love triangle to view it at all objectively. *mashes the three of them together like rag-dolls*

Most fun to write:
"Silver Lining in the Sky" was awesome fun to write, and made me run around the house yelping and squeeing. "Silk Cut Souvenir" was great fun to research. And NaNo this year, which was crazy fun. How the hell did I write 50k, anyway?

Sexiest fic:
I don't write the big sexin' type fics, but "Once Upon a Time in Madripoor" was pretty charged. The prompt called for UST, and I did my best. "Takes One to Know One" and "Scatter My Winter Dreams" were my only fics rated above an R. Maybe Emma Frost and Sirius Black make me braver.

"Holy crap, that's wrong even for you" fic:
I dunno? If it were that wrong, I'd bail on it, surely? I think I'm way too cowardly to persevere with something that isn't working at least on some level. But please, do say, if you think there's something.

Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
"Inheritance" made me find a calm, objective voice for Elektra, and "Transmutation" made me clarify my idea of Bobby. I really fear writing social, outgoing teenagers, because I never was one, and I can't imagine what it's like to be one. Writing Abby in "Inheritance" and Bobby in "Transmutation" sorted that out for me.

Hardest fic to write:
My one and only Magneto/Rogue fic would not come right - it was many things before I finally posted it. I thought I wanted to write about Marie living on her own in the non-mutant world, but in the end, it turned out that I just wanted to write about her and Erik on a mountain.

Biggest disappointment:
"So Much Water, So Close to Home" was really hard to write, and I think the labour shows; there's clunky phrasing and I don't think I got my idea across. I don't know why it turned out that way; it was a good prompt and I wanted to write it. Somehow I just never really found the rhythm of it, which makes me sad.

Biggest surprise:
How much "The Seventh Wave" made me love the Aeon Flux movie. It's not that good a movie, but now I see all the things I put in the fic, and it makes me happy.

Most telling fic:
"Takes One to Know One" made me squirm and blush - I never knew it would be harder to write about my own nethers than a man's.

Year-end squee:
I wrote a lot more than I thought. And NaNo! How it happened, I'll never guess.
