1. SO MUCH RAIN. And so much wind. I've heard chainsaws all day, when the wind dropped low enough, which means a fair few trees must be down. But none of the giant eucalypts out past the back fence shifted, so we're all good. Those things are *massive*. Watching them bend and flex in the wind is awesome and a bit terrifying. If one came down, I don't think it would mash the house, but it would certainly fill up the backyard.
2. This fandom secret from a few days ago: Teen Worf. Most of the comments in the post, here, said they'd watch the heck out of a show about an angsty teenage Klingon living with Russian parents on Earth. I'm with them on that.
3. My sister, who is twenty years younger than me, borrowed my Twin Peaks DVDs, and has been hilariously amazed:
"I can't believe something so weird existed back in the eighties!"
"This log lady is lol!"
"Was that David Duchovny in drag?"
(And then she independently invented moussaka - "I want to make a vegetarian lasagne, but, like, with eggplant as the pasta layers." So proud of her cooking adventures.)
4. I don't actually pay football much attention - sorry to the one AFL fan I have on my flist - but I am eternally amused that there's a player called Steele Sidebottom.
5. I ran out of yarn for my afghan. I guess I fell for the fatal error of buying exactly the right amount of yarn. (But that was all they had, and according to the pattern, it should have been okay?) Anyway, this is apparently the world's rarest of yarns, because I can't find any, anywhere. But I'm going to add a strip of the colour I was going to use for the trim at each end, and that should round it out. Argh! Never again!
6. I still haven't caught up on Night Vale, but I found this: Night Vale Weather, a list of musicians who have contributed to the weather section, with links to their music.

Date: 2013-08-18 01:42 pm (UTC)On a ridiculous note (for I am a bit hard of hearing), there is an AFL player called Ivan Maric playing for Richmond and I kept understanding it "marriage" and a few times, I swear, I heard "gay marriage" and the game was very confusing because how does AFL relate to gay marriage, you know?

Date: 2013-08-20 09:52 am (UTC)I have no idea what they could have been saying about Maric! I doubt that it had anything to do with gay marriage - they're not very gay-friendly as a rule.

Date: 2013-08-18 02:34 pm (UTC)Ah, Twin Peaks! I haven't watched it since it was actively airing on television, but I always love to see when people discover it.

Teen Worf! That would be amazing.
And you just know Steele Sidebottom must be the manliest man who ever manlied.

I want Teen Worf on my screen now! It would be amazing - full of angst and Klingon acne.

Date: 2013-08-18 09:06 pm (UTC)I've been reading the Night Vale transcripts as I'm not great with listening to things, but I'm going to give the podcasts a listen this morning.

Date: 2013-08-20 11:19 am (UTC)I don't normally like podcasts or audio books, but Cecil Baldwin has a fantastic voice, so I'm enjoying Night Vale with no embarrassment squick. It's great to have the podcasts, though. Very handy!
(BTW, thanks for the ticket in Candy Crush! I was so desperate! Pathetic.)
