Day two: I still live!
Nov. 2nd, 2007 11:37 pmZOMG! *falls over and expires*
( A tiny excerpt )
I am getting to know Jane and Miranda better, and I'm finding that in third person, away from the interview structure that I was using to get to know them in the research phase, they're not as scary as I thought. I'm having fun writing about them. The getting up early in the morning part, I'm not liking as much, but tomorrow is a short day at work, and then I have the weekend.
Things I've learned today:
Let the characters do what they want to do, within reason.
Let the story unspool at a steady pace - this is not a short fic, I don't necessarily have to be concise. I don't need to fear the story dragging.
I'm probably going to be using about ten percent of the research I did, and use much less of the background detail I cooked up. And that's okay.
It was fun today. Here's to a good weekend.
