It was so good and underrated by people outside the fandom. What a shock. A show with a woman as the lead is underrated by fandom. I once got in an argument with someone who was CONVINCED that the show was going to pull a bait and switch with the lead, and push Helen Magnus back into a secondary or tertiary capacity and make Will Zimmerman the spotlight character. (Mostly because she was one of those utterly stereotypical fans that focused her attention entirely on the white dudes on a series. She later defriended me because I made a post about how Merlin of BBC Merlin was a horrible jerkface for throwing a fireball at Nimue when her back was turned and how Nimue was not wrong for being furious with Uther and considering herself at war with him. Of course, that would be why I stopped watching Merlin after series one.)
