WE HAVE TOO MANY BOOKS

I wish I had the guts to admit this before we [personal profile] lilacsigil packed SIXTY BOXES of them.

IN CONCLUSION MOVING SUCKS BIG TIME AND I THINK WE SHOULD ABANDON ALL MATERIAL POSSESSIONS AND LIVE IN STERILE PODS.

I packed those books and carried them across town uphill both ways in the snow! You don't get to complain now!

Heeeee. I should really look to see whether there are more books out in that series. I've got some of them and my bro has the others. :-)

It just means that you need a library, ala Beauty and the Beast library.

THIS IS WHY WE NEED TRANSPORTERS

Do you think the X-Men get Nightcrawler to help them every time they move? The downside would be your couch smelling of sulphur.

Now that my personal library is back down to two and a half bookcases, I occasionally LOVE reordering them. When I was at 6 and a half, not so much.

Yeah, been there, done that. Much sympathy pointed your way.

It's amazing how much stuff I don't have when I finish packing. But the garbagemen aren't too happy...

They multiply. Like coat hangers. In the dark where no one can see them.

(In libraries no one can hear you scream? [Because the librarian shushes you!])

Neverrr. Never too many books! If this is true, shipping crates of them from Croatia to England when I moved was in vain!

Holy shit. Have you considered uploading your brains into the metaverse and living without a corporeal reality? It might be a better idea than moving.

SO MANY BOOKS! Nenya I haven't gotten that far, but early days yet.

Oh, got your comics. Thank you!

That is a lot of books. I can't imagine how you managed them. The lifting alone...

As a hypothetical, I asked my spouse if we had to move now, how many boxes of books he thought we'd pack up.

His answer: 200.

This is why we will never move.

And that doesn't count the offsite storage unit.

I'm currently packing "things I don't need every day" in case I get a transfer. So far, I've cleared out 3 bookcases and half my hall closet, along with the numerous boxes in the walk-in closet. I'd feel triumphant, if it weren't for the 9 boxes of books already packed, the remaining 2 bookcases, the rest of the hall closet, and the stuff in the car. And this assumes I'll be able to resist hitting the thrift stores and using that amazon gift card I got for Christmas!

I do understand your dilemma. Books are wonderful, until you have to move, and then it's all wth was I thinking?!

I'm really annoyed at how many duplicate copies of things I've found. I don't need one copy of the Southern Living 1993 cookbook, much less THREE. I used to keep all my books, cds, and movies listed in my computer and would print out the list before I went shopping, so as not to duplicate things. That organized ship sailed and sunk decades ago.

I'm running into the problem of where to put stuff I have packed. I've only got a small studio so it's like a Rubik's cube in here. I may have to check out storage rental prices.

I'm glad you're getting all settled in. Well worth the temporary chaos. I'm envious of your kitchen and your bookcases!

60 boxes. That's... *counts on fingers* a metric fucktonne.

Sterile pods like these?

Heh, I somewhat despair at the thought of ever having to move again because I'm in a similar situation in regards to the sheer amount of books I own. And I've been sorting through them, hahaha. How do people do austere living? ^_~ But, yay, you got all of them taken care of (and can always go through them again later)! ^_^
