I am so ready for huntsman season to be over.
lilacsigil has taken two out this morning. ("I'm fine," she said, poking one down from her ankle.)
X-Files is over.
SON, THAT WAS NO ENDING. NO.
Well, it's over. I'm kind of relieved? It was a painful, flailing kind of thing. I said I was going to love it no matter how bad it was, and I do, but that was pretty bad.
Mulder, weirdly, made me think of bad dad jokes. I didn't grok older!Mulder. Combined with the off-colour jokes and the transphobia and the horribly obvious Muslims-as-terrorists storyline, he was all a bit too much like that uncle who comes to a family celebration and you grit your teeth and tolerate his shit because he's never going to learn better. Which is a pity, because you'd think I'd love a dream sequence with Mulder and the Lone Gunmen and Skinner playing poker. But no.
I never really got why they went back to the FBI - I thought, because episodes were shown out of sequence that there'd be some explanation. Foolish me, expecting a coherent narrative. Sweet summer child, I am.
Things I did love:
- I love Agent Einstein and Miller (apparently there are spin-off rumours? I could go with that, especially since I think Scully and Mulder would make great cameos.)
- We finally got mention of Scully's other brother, Charlie. Instant head canon: Charlie (radical, liberal, gay, non-Catholic) was thrown out of the family, and only had contact via Melissa, so once Melissa was gone, he just sort of drifted. I hope he lives in some sunny place with a great man who never asks too much about his family.
- Were-Monster was pretty funny. I liked it 95%. I appreciated seeing the stoner kids all shiny and chrome.
- I did not hate the William what-if scenes. I was so happy to see Monica. I do not understand how the two plots were not combined. Is it not incredibly obvious that Monica's secret task was to raise William? And now, she can bring him back to Scully and Mulder, and Scully will be all "Has he had all his vaccinations?" and Mulder can be all "Has he seen all the relevant movies and absorbed a conspiracy-theory based existance?" And everything will be awkward and weird, since William was probably homeschooled and lived a free-and-easy, whale-song-rich lifestyle, and isn't really ready for suit-wearing FBI parents.
I just don't understand how this didn't happen.
Agent Carter's season finale:
Because for sure he and Jason got it on at the end of that episode. They were all with the little touches and the comfortable humour and the laughter.
I think, as others have said, that whether Jack is dead depends on the show being renewed.
lilacsigil kindly gave me a massive plot bunny for the fic where Peggy goes on a mission with Dottie to stop/rescue Michael Carter from whatever Winter Soldier situation he's gotten himself into. I am so into that idea. As if I don't have enough wips to finish.
I missed Angie in this season, though it was great to see her in the musical number. Dottie was spectacular, though, wasn't she? Beautiful Dottie, so utterly in love with Peggy, so dressed in Black Widow colours, so perfect.
Dottie. <3 <3 <3
My thoughts on the matter are shallow. Renew this show, give me more Dottie.
No more spiders though. That is enough.

Date: 2016-03-03 07:38 am (UTC)Not sorry about the plot bunny! Dottie and Peggy need to team up behind the Iron Curtain! Dottie can beguile corrupt officials and then Peggy can punch them...sort of what they did in LA, really.

Date: 2016-03-03 08:03 am (UTC)That is pretty much how I feel, too.
I definitely prefer your Charlie-headcanon to what the show gave us. :/

Date: 2016-03-03 08:18 am (UTC)Any Charlie headcanon would have been nice - all we really got was a disembodied voice and a mysterious backstory. (Which is better than we had, I guess!)
