This helped me a lot in early 2017 when Trump had just been elected, and I am hoping we can get the same feeling going again, after the UK election was such a shock.

Of course! I do seem to remember your name in the PG section! (And yup, I'm getting my MLIS in Aber now!)

Hurrah!

And yup, I'm getting my MLIS in Aber now!

And, oh, how lovely, then! I hope you are enjoying Aber. I loved it there. (The rule pretty much is either you hate it and leave within two weeks or you stay and pine for it forever after when you have to go. There may be in-betweens, of course.)

Have you watched Hinterland (Y Gwyll)? It was really cool to see all the familiar places in it, even if they like to pretend that Penglais Hill & the Waun don't exist.

Yes, I am definitely Team Aber Is Great. My friends and I keep talking about how we want the National Library to hire us so we can all stay here. It's really the perfect size for me because I am very much not a city person but there's so much going on here! I love a university town.

I have not watched it yet! I keep meaning to, but I haven't gotten around to it. I want to watch the version in Welsh and do subtitles since I enjoy listening to Welsh so much.

[eta] Are you a librarian now? I'm always interested in hearing where other people's MLIS have taken them.

LOL, it really should! And, aw, glad you're enjoying it. I left over 20 years ago now, and I still miss it. It really was a lovely place to be.

Either is cool for the language thing - they came up with a really clever way to do the Hinterland version, which was that they had the lead not be able to speak Welsh and everyone else can, so the majority of the dialogue is still in Welsh with subtitles and it isolates Mathias further. So, whichever one you can get hold of, it's cool, and will still have plenty of Welsh. (It can be pretty bleak, though. But it was worth it for Aber, and Mared was great.)

I was a children's librarian for ten years, but have been off work with a bad relapse of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for nearly another ten years - I did a quick intro post here if you want to know the basics of me, as it were!

I have such admiration for children's librarians--that is so not a thing I could do!
