Happy Birthday, Queen!
Jun. 11th, 2007 11:51 amQueen's Birthday holiday - happy birthday, sovereign! I wish you were more like Scandinavian monarchs who have jobs and ride bicycles and so on, but I hope you have a nice day. Even though it's not actually your birthday.
I'm very quiet at the moment, writing my
reversathon fic. It's an awesome challenge, I couldn't have thought up a prompt more suited to me than this, which is great, but also intimidating because I want to do it credit.
Some things about Blink that made me dance around in my seat:
1. It was scary not to see the statues move, it was twenty million times scarier not to HEAR them. Stone should make a crunchy sound when it moves - the silence was terrifying.
2. The word "quantum" makes everything better.
3. Sally Sparrow, I'm in love with you and your dimples.
4. Can't stop saying "Timey-wimey"
5. The Doctor? Is so married to Martha, he should change his name to Mrs Martha.
6.
lilacsigil posted a pic of the Dirty Angel, the closest statue to us, who is quantum-locked in a moment of private, ah, contemplation. See it here. (It's actually holding a wreath, and is a perfectly nice memorial statue when viewed face on.)
7. After waiting for the Doctor to meet up with Jack for so long, I'm reminded of that horrible moment when you finally speak to someone you have a huge and paralysing crush on, and it turns out that they didn't even know your name. Like Jack has been waiting and waiting and thinking about the Doctor, and chewing his nails (and maybe the nails on the Doctor's other, other hand), and then finally the Doctor shows up, and he's all casual-like, as though nothing has happened. It's weird to finally have that claustrophobic atmosphere from Torchwood meeting up with the blithe light-heartedness of Doctor Who. And I guess that makes me a Doctor/Jack shipper. *makes note*
