Dear Masked Author,

Thank you for taking on my request! You're clearly a philanthropist of the highest order.

First of all, I want to make your job as easy as possible. I'm thrilled that you're going to write a story set in one of the four fandoms I requested, and I'm not too fixated on you holding true to the letter of the request itself. Those requests? Are more like guidelines. If your muse takes you to a different place, feel free to extemporise, bring in characters I haven't mentioned, create pairings that I couldn't imagine. Please, have fun.

I'm an easy-going reader - I'm happy to read gen, het, slash, femslash, pretty much any permutation between characters that you can cook up. I love plot, even in the fluffiest of smutty pieces. I love happy endings, fairy-tales, mythological references. I'm a sucker for the small details - show me more of the world that the characters move in, and I will be in raptures.

I do have squicks, and these are they: adult/child pairings, non-consensual sex and non-canon character death. It would be great if you could avoid these.

Onto the specifics:

Ladyhawke
Anything set in this world would be wonderful - prequel, sequel, or something during the events in the movie. If you're looking for something a little more specific, maybe something from one of the other character's POV? The movie is mostly from Phillippe's perspective, so another POV would certainly be interesting. I'd love to see what they think of Phillipe. I'd prefer nothing above a PG for this request - this movie is a childhood favourite, I just can't imagine NC-17 in this fandom without shuddering a little.

I have loved Ladyhawke since I was a teenager and I still know parts of it by heart. I'm a sucker for a fairy-tale, and I love the weirdness that underlies this one. I've requested that you keep the rating PG, but I don't mind pairings at all, and though Phillipe is considerably younger than Navarre and Isabeau, I do see them as contemporaries and wouldn't consider, for example, Navarre/Phillipe to be an adult/child pairing. I'm not averse to reading about sex in the Ladyhawke universe, just that the sex not be explicit.

American Gods
Oh, where to start with this book? I'd love a tale of Low-Key Lyesmith's exploits among the mortals, or something about Bilquis, or the New Gods, or a visit to Mr Ibis' funeral home. Or anything at all - pick a myth and tell about their story in the New World. (This is a gruesome book, so any rating is fine with me. Gen, het, slash, femslash, go nuts.)

There are so many stories in this book, which I love, because I'm a person who loves to read about the characters on the sideline. I think this is a book that lends itself to new characters, so if there's a mythology that you love, and you want to explore that inside Mr Gaiman's world, please feel free to bring new characters into the fic, I think that's awesome. Alternatively, I'd love a closer look at any of the existing characters.

Sandman
A story about any of the other characters who encountered the Endless would be wonderful. If you're finding it hard to choose, I'd love a Lady Constantine fic, something with swash and buckle.

I'm all with the Gaiman love with this year's request! I've nominated Lady Constantine, but really, I'm happy with anything from the Sandman universe. A tiny, self-contained story about any character, no matter how obscure, would delight me.

The Village
I loved the premise for this movie, and would love a prequel - something that tells me more about how the community survived those early days - maybe from the point of view of one of the people who followed Walker to found his new community. Or a sequel, or something set during the events of the movie - honestly, any story set within Covington Woods would be fascinating. I'm fine with any pairing that isn't incest or cross-gen, I'm happy with gen, het, slash or femslash. Anything at all would be fine.

I've often wondered what it was like for the founders of Covington Woods to put aside the trappings of modern life and start living in the 19th century. Do they miss electricity and modern plumbing? Did they have second thoughts? Did they huddle together behind the toolshed, eking out their stash of candy and cigarettes? When did they realise that they would need something to dissuade the next generation from straying into the woods? I definitely find the adults who know the origins of the settlement most fascinating, and would love to see what's going on inside their heads. This includes Ivy - it would be great to see what decisions have to be made as the settlement ages.

I want to thank you again for taking on this challenge - I'm so excited that there will be fic set in one of these worlds, and can't wait to read what you create.

Wishing you a cool Yule,
