lunatunes - the theme this week is "Love songs that don't suck".
You're So Fine - Paul Kelly
The thing about Paul Kelly is that he writes songs that seem simple, but the more you listen to them, the more there is to hear. There's something intimate about this, even though there's not much to the song.
Henry Lee - Nick Cave and PJ Harvey
A song of obsessive love and revenge. With Nick Cave, it may be love, but you're going to regret it one way or another.
I can't get down and I won't get down
And stay all night with thee
For the girl I have in that merry green land
I love far better than thee
The Special Ones - George
A song about reclaiming love. I would say this was a break-up song, but Katie Noonan's voice conveys how precious love is, and how it should be valued. I guess it's a song about love.
So rather than trying to open my heart
I'm gonna lock it with a key
So that only the special ones
Can ever get through to me
Amazing - Alex Lloyd
Alex Lloyd is a balladeer - beautiful melodies, beautifully sung.

Fade Away - Che Fu
Che Fu is a NZ hip-hop artist. This is a song about keeping that love going, long distance.

Beanni - The Cat Empire
The Cat Empire are a whole bunch of fun. This is a love story, about an odd couple. It's funky and charming, and hard to describe (much like The Cat Empire).
His name was Beanni

Crazy - Cordrazine
This is a strange, claustrophobic love song.
Burn For You - INXS
This is from The Swing, released in 1984. *sigh* I'm old. This song is hot.

And the love song never stops
In your Eyes - Darren Hayes
A cover of the Peter Gabriel song, by Darren Hayes, formerly of Savage Garden. It's a great song, and a stripped-back performance.

This is from The Tension and The Spark, Darren Haye's second solo album. A very sad anti-love song.

Tim and Neil Finn's band before Neil took off to form Crowded House, and Tim went solo. Charlie is a creepy, strange story about love and jealousy that went a little too far, and the morning after.
