I have a shiny new Middleman icon, by [livejournal.com profile] jainaj! *hearts Lacey to bits* It's totally cheering me up after a miserable day at work. I have formulated a new theory about tourists: when they walk out the door to go on holiday, they will always leave behind three very important things - their road sense, their life-saving medication without which they will surely die in five seconds, and their manners.

Yuletide reveals are up, and I'm slowly answering comments. Do you get that thing where you open a comment, and suddenly have nothing to say? And then you burble out some incoherent thanks, and you're sure that the person who left you such nice feedback is at the other end of the internet wondering how the hell you managed to write something worth leaving feedback for? Maybe I overthink this process a bit much.

I had an awesome Yuletide - I adored my gift, which was Black Swan, written by [livejournal.com profile] millarific, whom I don't know, but for whom I am full of fangirly squee.

I wrote two fics - Put Down the Bomb and Step Away from the Rhino, which is for the TV series Standoff, which I love for the awesome awesomeness of Gina Torres who plays Cheryl, but also stars other folks like Ron Livingstone and Rosemary DeWitt. I'm going to take this chance to pimp the series - it's one season only, it's an FBI hostage negotiation drama, and Ron Livingstone and Rosemary DeWitt play two very messed-up psychologically trained negotiators. Gina Torres is their boss, Cheryl, and she's everything you'd expect from Gina Torres playing an FBI agent in charge of a team of prima-donna agents.

The other fic was Taking the Waters, Lord John Grey, and as is the case with most pinch-hits, it was the more popular fic - I think because writing a pinch hit makes one abandon all fears and just write as fast as you can. This fic was John/Stephan, which was also one of my requests this year, and I loved writing it. It's the first time I've written for the Lord John Grey novels, apart from a tiny ficlet thing I have in one of those five things fics which I haven't posted yet. I loved writing this so much! So, so much.

See, now I've cheered myself up completely. Yay for Yuletide - it has kept me sane all through the Christmas rush and beyond into the New Year. (Thank you [livejournal.com profile] elynross and [livejournal.com profile] astolat for another great year!)
