Serenity is showing now in Aussie cinemas. I won't get to see it until Monday, which is after school holidays and thus murder will not be done upon the youth of Geelong. The Herald-Sun reviewer gave it 2.5 stars, and gave a review that bitched and moaned about not feeling included, and not getting the references. The Age, normally not too kind to science fiction films, gave it 3.5 stars and said it was clever.

I'm typing this while I watch Doctor Who. It's Arc of Infinity, the Fifth Doctor, and I'm really puzzled and sad about Nyssa. Why do they have her there? She's supposed to be the young scientist, but she never actually knows anything. She never gets to say much, Tegan does all the running and arguing, and before Adric took that one-way ride, he got to do all the flying and maths. So what's the point of Nyssa? Poor Nyssa, frustrated science heroine in velvet pantaloons. Even in the eighties, they should have been able to do better by her.
