Strine - it's Aussie for Australian
Aug. 12th, 2008 08:02 pmA minute ago I was watching this Australian production of Macbeth, set in Melbourne's ganglands. It was predictably hilarious, with the witches making their potion in a copper saucepan in their ultra-modern McMansion kitchen surrounded by stainless steel appliances. In the nude.
Now we're watching the dressage, which we torrented, because the Aussie coverage consisted of showing the two best Aussie tests and nothing else. The British coverage is much more civilised, and it's awesome to see Mark Todd do an awesome test in a snaffle, all round and relaxed. His horse is called Gandalf.
lilacsigil wonders if Gandalf has his own horse called Shadowfax.
It's interesting to note the changes in online life since the last Olympics - when I saw the athletes filming from the middle of the arena in the opening ceremony, I thought "That will be up on Youtube soon." We're reading more blogs, torrenting the coverage we want to watch, and watching Russia fail to black out Georgia's web-connectivity with a raised eyebrow. It feels good to be in the middle of rural Victoria, and still feel connected to the rest of the world.
*snickers* Shadowfax. Heh.
