He does! I was really surprised to discover that -- before I really watched Major Crimes, I'd occasionally catch a scene between him and Sharon while channel surfing, and I was totally smitten with their relationship, but not enough to get into the show. I don't always like Rusty's plot lines lately, and sometimes I think too much of Sharon's story centers around him, but to me those are more issues with the writing than with Rusty. For me, he's in a four-way tie with Julio, Sharon, and Provenza for my favorite Major Crimes character.

How do you feel about him, and do you have any favorites on the show?

I admit that Major Crimes is my "cleaning" show--I put it on so I can distract myself and half pay attention while I do boring stuff. So I'm not well-versed in the episodes I've seen.

Buuuut, I will say that while I don't like it when people are mean to Rusty (lookin' at you, ADA Rios!), I also don't like when the character's morality is determined by whether they are nice or mean to Rusty. Like, they are a Good Person if they are nice to him, but they are a Bad Person if they aren't, any other attributes be damned. I also got creeped out by some other episodes when it seemed like the squad was trying to match-make Rusty with any other guy who walked into the room, but there could be more context to that than I know about, since I don't watch in sequence.

For other characters, I guess I like Provenza best, because I relate to his grumpy self. ;)

I know exactly what you mean about fixing Rusty up with guys. There's a couple episodes in season three where Rusty has a crush on a guy he works with, and the guy is considerably older (like mid-20s to Rusty's 18, I think) and Sharon is all "zomg ask him out!" and I am just like "what is WRONG with you, Sharon?" The most charitable explanation I can come up with is they're just trying to be very supportive and make sure he has positive romantic and sexual experiences after his time on the streets, but it... really doesn't work.

He and Gus are adorable, though. Maybe Gus will stay around long enough that we don't have to see any more awkward matchmaking from the adults.

MTE. And you touched on another part of the issue that makes me super uncomfortable. I know the characters are probably just trying to show Rusty he's accepted, as you mentioned, but it seems very insensitive to me that they're constantly pressuring the former sex worker (who entered the profession under duress and exited it due to trauma/a threat to his life) to be gettin' with these various guys. I know the team does it from a place of love, but I really think they should back off and let Rusty make those decisions for himself.
