Happy birthday to thisbluespirit and lurkingcat, and a belated happy birthday to my nearly twin, muccamukk. And happy birthday to me. I had a quiet day: transplanted some lettuce seedlings into the greenhouse, did some crochet, watched the Eurovision final on delay via Youtube. I got an almond milk hot chocolate when we went out for our daily pokestop visit. I made myself a Black Tapes icon:


It was nice. And less stressful than many other birthdays I have shared.

I've sent my snippets away to wipbigbang for the Person of Interest Sentinel/Guide fic. I wrote a summary and chose a title. I've got a W13 fic in second beta right now, so hopefully I can post that next week. I'm nearly caught up on getting my fandom_stocking fics posted here. I got something in for iconthat's current challenge. I'm doing stuff. It's a good feeling.

And I think I'm ready to close comments at my LJ.

What did you think to Eurovision? I just wrote a review on my DW. The Australian lad was only 17!

I used to make loads of icons, but have lost the urge recently.

Here is the last one I made, it is a bit rough around the edges, I should have shrunk it first and then put the words in!

Oh, Eurovision! I liked the young man we sent over, but I don't think he had the performance experience of Dami Im (the Australian from last year.) I do love, love that we're allowed to compete, though! Australians have loved Eurovision for a long, long time (I remember watching it on TV in the seventies!)

I wasn't too thrilled by the winner, but I get that his story was a good one, and it wasn't a bad song, as such. I'm not really a fan of ballads, though. But I am happy for Portugal's first win ever, and I think it will be fun for the show to be hosted in Lisbon.

I liked Romania (with the yodelling), I liked the Netherlands (the three sisters doing close harmony) and it was great to see epix sax guy back with Moldova. And Hungary's rap.

I don't really mind who wins, actually, it's just a really good night's TV. (I skipped the semis, but I might go back and watch them now.

Happy birthday! Please tell us all your thoughts on Eurovision! I had so much fun watching. Yodeling and horse heads, I loved it.

NGL, I loved the yodelling. The horse head was so delightfully Eurovision, I couldn't get over it.

I had my faves: the Hungarian rap, the pretty Dutch women, epic sax guy, the people that were second up with the lace guitar. There were some really good songs! (And some terrible songs - Spain never disappoints in that sense, omg. I didn't love Portugal's song, but I'm happy they got their first win, and I think Lisbon will be interesting for next year's event.

I love Eurovision time. It's the best.
