Hey there, Shipoween author!

I ticked all the boxes in the sign-up form because I wasn't sure how to indicate that I don't mind if there's a theme or not. I don't mind! I like spooky things, I like seasonal things. And bonus southern hemisphere goodness: it's spring here! Let me give you a free pass to other, non-regulation seasonal tropes like hayfever and mild sunburn.

General likes: Plot, competence, sexy times, light kink or D/s dynamics. Characters having quiet moments. Visible queer presences, gender fluidity, people comfortable with their identities and living their best lives. Happy endings. Alternate universes of the non-mundane kind.

Horror likes: Spooky much more than gory, creepypasta, paranormal weirdness, people living normal lives with their weirdnesses, abilities like psychometry or talking to ghosts or lycanthropy, dimensional shifts, Lovecraftian monsters oozing into this dimension, Ouija boards and professional psychics, exorcisms, cryptozoology.

Seasonal likes: I'm taking this to mean tropey stuff like huddling for warmth or sharing umbrellas or dealing with wet dogs or raking up fallen leaves? I'm good with that. I'm good with all the tropey domestic goodness, to be honest, though being an Aussie, I have only peripheral experience with Halloween, and my knowledge of Thanksgiving extends only as far as popular media. Also, it's spring here, so if you want to write your faves dealing with hayfever or marvelling over new leaves on trees and blossom, please feel free.

Prefer not to see (but can take it if the story goes that way): Embarrassment, angst, sad endings, character death.

Concrete DNWs: Teacher/Student, cross-gen, pregnancy, animal suffering, body horror, partner death and grieving.

Crossovers:
Wendy Carr/Dana Scully
I feel that these two will have a lot in common – they're both professional women at Quantico. They came from other careers to a mostly male-dominated Bureau, they both work with prima donna agents (sorry, Holden, but it's true), and they both have a lot of respect for the scientific method.

Wendy Carr will have been working with the FBI for a while by the time Dana is coming into the FBI - that could make for an interesting dynamic. Maybe Dana seeks her out to learn more about Fox's time in the BAU. Maybe she wants to commiserate on having to work in a basement. Maybe they're living in the same apartment building? From a paranormal point of view, maybe they've both had to face the fact that there are weird things out there, and scepticism isn't going to work anymore.

I'm up to date with Mindhunter Season Two. I'm an old, old X-Files fan even though I can't quite bring myself to watch the last season. I'm not a Scully/Mulder shipper (Noromo!)

Marcus Keane/John Constantine
Now that I've seen the tag, I can't imagine that Marcus and John don't know each other: two people trained to fight demonic forces.

I can see some paranormal crisis where John specifically needs a Catholic priest right the fuck now – maybe Marcus is his go-to contact for the Catholic church. Or maybe John knew Marcus when he was a kid in a home, dealing with the reality of demons. Maybe Marcus knows of John from the horribly botched exorcism John tried in his youth. (I kind of like the idea that John is a notorious person in the exorcism community, actually)

Person of Interest
Aaaaaah I have so many POI feels!! I have chosen the ships I love most of all but I don't have any objection to other ships - I don't like character bashing. Please don't bash Iris!

(Honestly I see all of them as a big poly group of happiness – I have no problem with John/Harold co-existing with John/Iris, for example. But as long as you're not bashing one ship in favour of another, I'm good.)

I think there's so much potential for paranormal AUs in this show – Harold is a man full of secrets, and for me, his abilities with computers easily translate to other things like psychic powers. Fusco is a champion compartmentaliser, so if John happens to mention that once a month he turns into a hairy wolfman, Fusco can deal. Root would be really into spooky stuff, I feel, while Shaw will mostly want to know how to kill it.

The Exorcist
I glommed hard on to Marcus/Peter and all that it represents for Marcus at a stage in his life where he's figured out that the Church =/= his relationship with God. I think I'm the only person who doesn't ship Marcus/Tomas, sorry – it plays into my teacher/student squick. I would love anything post S2 (before the flashback) where Marcus is having a bit of down time and getting to know Peter. I feel like there's lots of potential for cryptozoology here: Peter knows stuff about the wilderness. Marcus knows stuff about evil. Together they fight crime/save werewolves/solve evil mysteries.

I was very into Verity's approach to the supernatural and to demons – with her presumably religious and definitely abusive background, she has learned to question everything.

I really think she'd be a great champion for the dead – talking to ghosts, helping them on their way to the next stage of life whatever that is. I can see her with Kat or an OC, travelling and learning about the world and ferociously defending people who can't do it themselves.
