And in other news, the Large Hadron Collider has failed to blow us up again. The world gets a stay of execution for another month. Then the giant krill will come seeping through the wormhole. And I, for one, welcome our crustacean overlords. I think it's time for an apocalypse tag.

The Aussie government has amped up my apocalypse-fear by sending me a folder to help me prepare for the imminent onslaught of Avian flu. It's called "Preparing for the Flu Pandemic", and it has a terrifying poster. I'm worried because all we got for the SARS epidemic was a letter. Now they're printing posters and leaflets and telling us to screen customers with fevers, and check if they've come from countries that may have Avian flu.
It's good to be prepared, and I'm glad that they're not ignoring the problem. I'm just worried that Avian flu is more serious than SARS.
Oh well, for what it's worth, at least we have the influenza vaccine, unlike certain unlucky first world countries that shall remain anonymous.
