Dear Rarewomen writer!

Thank you for signing up for this ficathon! I'm really excited about this exchange, and all the fabulous characters that have been nominated. I think it's going to be lots of fun.

I want to say, first up, that I want you to have fun writing. I've written this letter with the intention that you'll take as much or as little from it as you need. I'm going to love whatever you choose to write - I love all the characters and fandoms I've requested, and seeing them in a story will be wonderful.

Things that I like:

I have a huge competency kink! Show me characters doing their jobs well, solving problems and negotiating the demands of work versus the expectations of home life and I will be in bliss. I love professional banter, people getting along with their team, jokes and ribbing while dealing with a crisis, team-bonding and hugs when the crisis is done.

I love world building, and the way people interact with their environment, and all the small, everyday things that go along with that, like being comfortable with technology or magic or people's special abilities. Use your telekenisis to hang out the laundry? Awesome.

I'm a fan of plot, so I love adventure stories and case-fic and monsters of the week. I'm more of a porn-with-plot person that a plot-what-plot person. Sex is fine, but I like my characters to be doing something while they're doing something, if you know what I mean.

Speaking of sex, I'm happy with femslash, I'm happy with het. I'm happy with gen. I'm happy with Bob. UST, ST, chatting and cuddling, it's all good. I like people that trust people, I like seeing how that trust works or how it was brought into being.

I like crossovers, AUs (as long as they're not the de-powered or non-magical kind), backstory, missing scenes, off-screen romps, happy endings. Lots of things.

Things I don't like so much:

It's probably not an issue with my prompts, but I'd rather say now that I'm personally not comfortable with cross gen, teacher/student or employer/employee relationships. Non-con or dub-con is not comfortable for me to read. Kink is fine, on the mutually negotiated level.

Since this is an exchange spawned at Yuletide, I've got my Dear Yuletide Author letters rounded up here:

2011
2010
2009
2008
2007
2006

And for some good ideas about my narrative tastes, from [community profile] junetide:
Dear Junetide Author

Individual requests under here! )

Whew, that's a lot of information. Please, please pick and choose what you need from this - I'm happy for you to completely ignore everything, and write the story you have in mind. Most of all, I want this to be an easy and enjoyable exchange for you.

Thank you so much for writing a story for me!

Our personal trainers were all "Yay! It's all cardio day!" And while at the time I was super buzzed with endorphins, and super amazed at all the wonderful things I could do on my knee (I walked some reasonable distances! I stepped up, if not down!) I'm rather regretting everything now.

Then there was physio.

Trigger warning for a brief discussion of fat acceptance versus healthcare )

Anyway. Closing some tabs.

From this post on ONTD: If Famous Writers Had Written Twilight:

Twilight, by Dr. Seuss

Jake likes a girl. Her name is Bella.
Bella likes a different fella.

See this vamp? This is Ed.
Ed is pale. Ed is dead.

Ed saved Bella from a van.
Ed must be a special man.

Ed won't kill boys. He won't kill girls.
Ed gets fed on deer and squirrels.

This is James. He's a tracker.
He's a sort of vamp attacker.

James hunts Bella for a thrill.
Will Ed kill him? Yes, he will.

But James gave her a little bite.
Will she be a vamp? She might!

Edward fixes Bella's cut.
She won't be a vampire.
But...

She becomes one. Read some more.
She's a vampire in book 4.

(I love this most of all for the fact that it rhymes "girls" and "squirrels". Lol your funny accents, USians!)

Oh, man, I have to post a pic of this stupid sticker, off a packet of screen cleaner wipes:
Photobucket
[Image: Round sticker showing a finger approaching a small puckered aperture. It's a warning sticker, with a red circle and slash.]

It took me five seconds to actually do what this sticker warned me not to do. Five seconds. While I was laughing at the sticker. I couldn't get the plastic opening off my finger. I had to scream out for help, because it was cutting off the circulation to my finger. [personal profile] lilacsigil had to bend the prongs back so I could... pull my finger out. It was a headdesk moment of monumental proportions.
